Carla J. Hopkins, 72, of the village of Camillus, passed away Thursday at Francis House. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Onondaga Valley High School and Syracuse University. She was a former trustee for the village for several years and later worked at Maxwell Memorial Library for many years. She enjoyed traveling, the stock market and gardening. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Nye, and by a sister, Sandra Lucas. Carla is survived by her husband of 43 years, George; three sons, Larry (Lisa) Hopkins of Camillus and Terry (Susan) Hopkins and David (Mary) Hopkins, both of Syracuse; four stepdaughters, Louise Rode, Lenna Dower, Mary Anne Hopkins and Carolyne Betz; two brothers, Andrew (Patty) Nye and Carl (Margaret) Nye, both of Marcellus; five grandchildren, Nicole, Cory, Lauren, Hunter and Jillian; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at B.L. Bush & Sons, 10 Genesee St., Camillus. Services are private. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Maxwell Memorial Library, 14 Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031 or Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
