Carla J. Hopkins, 72, of the village of Camillus, passed away Thursday at Francis House. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Onondaga Valley High School and Syracuse University. She was a former trustee for the village for several years and later worked at Maxwell Memorial Library for many years. She enjoyed traveling, the stock market and gardening. She was predeceased by a brother, Donald Nye, and by a sister, Sandra Lucas. Carla is survived by her husband of 43 years, George; three sons, Larry (Lisa) Hopkins of Camillus and Terry (Susan) Hopkins and David (Mary) Hopkins, both of Syracuse; four stepdaughters, Louise Rode, Lenna Dower, Mary Anne Hopkins and Carolyne Betz; two brothers, Andrew (Patty) Nye and Carl (Margaret) Nye, both of Marcellus; five grandchildren, Nicole, Cory, Lauren, Hunter and Jillian; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at B.L. Bush & Sons, 10 Genesee St., Camillus. Services are private. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
