Before retiring, Charles was a warehouse manager for Zuni Altman in Elizabeth. He had also been a parking attendant at Saint John Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Rent Leveling Board for 22 years, both in Bergenfield. Beloved husband of Gloria Bernice (nee Slovack) Elder. Devoted father of Bernice C. Cleveland and John Charles Elder. Loving grandfather of Amanda Poquette. Cherished great-grandfather of Jessica Poquette. Arrangements were entrusted by Riewerts Memorial Home, 187 South Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ 07621. The funeral liturgy was officiated on Thursday, February 17, 2000 at 10 AM in Saint John's Roman Catholic Church, 29 North Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ 07621. Interment followed at Ocean View Cemetery in Bay Terrace.
