Anchorage resident Mark Edwards, 43, died Sept. 9, 1998, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Services were held at Anchorage Baptist Temple with Dr. Jerry Prevo officiating. A family graveside service followed.

Mr. Edwards was born Aug. 8, 1955, in Glendale, Calif. He moved to Alaska in 1957 and graduated in 1973 from West High School. Mr. Edwards worked at International Aviation from 1984 until the present. He had many hobbies and interests, including karate and bowling. ''He was also an exercise buff at Gold's Gym,'' said his family. ''Mark was such a cheerful, fun-loving person who enjoyed and embraced life to the fullest. He loved children and had a number of foster children over the years. Mark was a joy to his family and friends. He will be missed by everyone."

Mr. Edwards is survived by his parents, Vinton and Helen of Cooper Landing; brothers, Robert, Larry and Patrick of Anchorage; sister, Rebecca Janke of Salt Lake City; son, Travis; daughters, Cheryl and Crystal; nephews, Jason and Aaron, Tyson Janke, David and Robert Edwards and Eric and Cody Marlowe; nieces, Shelly Heintz, Laura, Molly Janke and Diana Marlowe; sisters-in-law, Lisa, Susan and Cindy; and brother-in-law, Fred Janke. Arrangements were made by Anchorage Funeral Home.
