US Congressman. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1828, studied law and became an attorney in Harts Falls. In 1846 he was the successful Whig nominee in the special election held to fill the US House of Representatives seat left vacant when Richard P. Herrick died, and he served the remainder of the term, December, 1846 to March, 1847. In 1854 he moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where he farmed and continued to practice law, also holding several local offices including School Superintendent, and serving in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1873 to 1874.
