One short month ago the home of James Brann, near Hatton, was one of happiness and there was nothing to cast a shadow over its peaceful serenity. But three weeks ago fatal disease took hold upon the wife and mother. Two weeks later their little daughter, Sina May, born September 2, 1899, was stricken with the summer complaint and at the end of one week of suffering she who by her sweet and loving disposition and intelligence beyond her years had entwined herself about the hearts of parents and brothers, was not, for God took her. She died on August 15, aged 1 years, 11 months and 13 days.

During the child's sickness, the mother, whose life was hanging in the balance and whose sufferings were intense, said to her husband, "I cannot take care of her and I have resigned her to the Lord and our kind friends, neither of whom have ever failed me in time of need." The child was buried on Friday and On Saturday morning the death angel again came to that home. A loving husband was bereft of a faithful wife and three little boys were motherless. Charlie aged 13, Allen 11 and David 6 are left to realize as they go through life that God gives us but one mother and when she is gone, though others may be kind to us, it is not mother.

Louisa Calvert was born December 16, 1869, and died August 17, 1901. She joined the Baptist Church in 1878. Later, not having an opportunity of worshipping with that denomination, she placed her membership with the M.P. Church. She was united in marriage with James Brann March 6, 1887. Of this union were born six children, three of whom preceded her to the beyond. She was buried in the York Cemetery.
