DEATH OF MRS. CASHEL HOEY.

The "Daily Chronicle" says - The death has occurred of Mrs. Cashel Hoey, the well known novelist.

Mrs. Cashel Hoey was born at Bushy Park, Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin, in 1830 and in 1858 married Mr. John Cashel Hoey of Dromalanne, Newry, who was her second husband, and a well-known Irish litterateur.


FREEMAN'S JOURNAL 17 July 1908:

The death us announced at the age of 79 of Mrs. Frances Cashel Hoey, widow of Gavan Duffy's successor in the editorship of the "Nation". Mrs. Cashel Hoey, who was a member of the Irish Literary Society, was the author of a number of novels, including among others, "A House of Cards", "Falsely True", "A Golden Sorrow", "A Stern Chase". She was at one time a frequent contributor to several literary journals and magazines, and translated many works from the French and Italian. From the foundation of "The World", until within a few weeks of her death, Mrs. Cashel Hoey was a regular contributor to its literary columns.
