Born Mary Kostecki, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was a pioneer in the field of ladies professional wrestling. She made her debut in July 1954 and held several championship belts. She dated Elvis Presley from 1956 - 1958, before marrying Johnny Weaver and having a daughter, Wendi. She retired from the ring in June 1977, and went on to compete in the Senior Olympic Games. She is the author of the autobiography "Banner Days", and was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005.
