Don Fogg Harris, our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and friend, age 85, passed away June 14, 2001 in Glacier National Park, Montana.
Born, May 30, 1916 in Salem, ID to Bernice Rawlings and Martha Ann Fogg Harris. Married Charlotte Ruth Pratt, Nov 3, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died Mar. 23, 1998. Married Norma "Jennie" Soderborg, Dec. 2, 2000 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Graduated from South High School. Received BS Degree from the U of U and later earned a School Counseling certificate. Served LDS Mission to the Spanish-American Mission. He worked as a Seminary Teacher, Salesman and Construction Worker, then worked 35 years in the profession he loved as a school teacher, and counselor.
After retirement he and his wife Ruth served four more LDS missions to Alabama, Argentina, Salt Lake Cambodian, and the Philippines. Because of his passion for teaching, he returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher and was still teaching at the time of his death. He loved and lived the gospel and served in many church capacities. He was very active in Sons of Utah Pioneers.
Survivors include wife, Norma; children, D. Richard (Morrena) Harris, David (Carol) Harris, Martie (Tom) Mumford, Janene (Warren) Ludlow, Lynda (Mike) Patrick; daughter-in-law, Gayle Harris; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Poulsen. Preceded in death by his son, Gene; three brothers; and four sisters.
Services will be Tues. June 19, 2001 11 a.m. in the Forest View LDS Ward chapel, 1111 E. Charleton Ave. (2800 S). Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Dr, Mon 6-8 p.m. and at the church Tues 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
