FALMOUTH - Carl W. Alexander, 88, of Vista Drive, in Windham, died Saturday, June 26, 2004 at a Falmouth health care facility after a battle with cancer.

Born in South Portland, he was a son of James E. and Anna F. Werner Alexander. He attended Waltham, Mass., and Milo schools.

Mr. Alexander was a machinist and had worked for several New England businesses including The Portland Co., Pratt and Whitney, and Diamond International Automation. He had also been a tractor trailer driver for Dairy Transport in Boston.

He had served four years in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, woodworking and his dog, Ollie.

His wife, Athelene 'Bernie' H. Coron Alexander died in June 1993.

Surviving him are a daughter, Carlene Hinkson Falkenberg of Windham; a sister, Isabelle Wetzel of Lebanon, Mo.; three grandsons, Carl Hinkson and Robert Hinkson, both of Windham, and Edward Hinkson of Gorham; and three great-grandchildren.

An hour of visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, June 29 at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. James Reynolds will officiate. Private interment in Arlington Cemetery will follow.
