William "Bill" Fredrick Lowell left this world on March 9, 2008, in Friday Harbor, WA. He was 76 years young. Bill resided in Friday Harbor for 27 years, where he spent most of his time working at Jensen Shipyard. He recently moved out of the shipyard, following his retirement nine months ago, to be near his daughter, Sharon. Bill was born at home in Leavenworth, WA on November 15, 1931, to Ernest and Inez (Kramer) Lowell. In the early 1950's, he worked on the railroad in Leavenworth and during the 1960's, he worked in the apple packing industry, at a saw mill and on a horse farm. Bill moved to Bonner's Ferry, ID in the early 1970's, and worked for the forest service there for 18 years. He moved to Friday Harbor in 1981, where he resided and worked in the Jensen Shipyard. Bill was an avid and feverish fisherman. He spent most of his spare time fishing for salmon, sturgeon, trout and other varieties. Bill also enjoyed roller skating with his sister, 1950's music and many other outdoor activities. He raised bees, with the help of his daughter and is known for his fresh honey. "We will always hold you in our hearts, we love you, Dad!" Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father; as well as his two sisters, Sharon and Ruth; and his brother, Harry Lowell. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, John Lowell of SeaTac, WA, Leroy Lowell of Wenatchee, WA and Steven and Debbie Lowell of Rock Island, WA; daughter, Sharon Lowell of Friday Harbor, WA; grandson, Craig Lowell of Rock Island, WA; sisters, Judy Chrisco of East Wenatchee, WA, Verna Weber of Hood River, OR and Wynona Leake of Friday Harbor; brothers and sister-in-law, Louis and Pat Lowell of Wenatchee and Howard Lowell of Wenatchee; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 15, 2008, in Friday Harbor, WA. Interment of his urn will be held in Peshastin, WA sometime in the spring or summer of 2008.
