The following is from the Paxton IL "Record" issue of June 3, 1909, under the heading "Roberts":
"Jacob A. Houk died at his home here Monday morning after a long illness of cancer of the throat. Mr. Houk was about 55 years of age. He was married to Miss Hattie Moser, who died about fourteen years ago, leaving five children. Later he married Mrs. Allie Huxtable. Two children were born to them, one of whom, with the wife and the children of the former marriage, survive."
