Sikeston - Perle Black Mongomery, 99 years old, of Sikeston died Tuesday at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born July 16, 1899 near Morley to William and Cordelia Domec Black.
She attended Morley Public Schools and graduated in 1919 from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught elementary school in Benton two years.She was active in school, church, civic and military support groups. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was a member over 50 years of Order of Eastern Star 137. Member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Federated Woman's Club.
She married M.E. Montgomery June 18, 1919, in Morley. He preceded her in death Nov. 28, 1976. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Mary Louise Waters and four brothers.. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert M. and Lil Montgomery; a son-in-law, Allen S. "Buddy" Waters; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sikeston City Cemetery.
