The facts as far as I can tell... George was a civil war veteran. He served in Co. A. 1st Alabama Inf. as a Confederate. He married Francis Bundick on Feb 27th 1873 after having moved to Texas with his father James W. Canion and his brothers. There are census records from 1880 indicating that George and Francis were living in Gonzales Co. by then with several of their children. After his Francis' death he married Roxie Dowda on Oct 20th 1897.
