Ordained into the Order of Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual of Boston in 1945.


Earned his Master's in history and language from St. Bonaventure in Olean, NY. Taught at Sienna College in NY for 42 years. Retired as professor emeritus in 1988.

Fr. Walter Armijo, OFM, following graduation from St. Bonaventure University, Allegany, N.Y., was received into the Province's novitiate in 1939 and professed temporary vows the following year. In 1943, he made his profession of solemn vows and was ordained a priest in 1945.

Fr. Walter served as professor of history, Spanish and religion at Siena College, Loudonville, N.Y.. For years, he offered morning Mass for the Sisters of St. Augustine and served as weekend assistant and director of a Third Order group in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. After forty plus years of teaching, he retired to St. Anthony Residence in Boston. He died at Massachusetts General Hospital; 82 years old, a professed friar for 55 years and a priest for 51 years.
