Charlene Ann Jewell, 71, a Hoquiam resident, died on Monday, May 12, 2008, at her home in Hoquiam following a brief illness. She was born on Aug. 16, 1936, in Aberdeen, to Ralph J. and Gladys May (Ross) Quirin.

She was raised and attended school in Aberdeen, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1954. Following her graduation she moved to Seattle. Charlene had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Hoquiam School District for 15 years in the early 60s and 70s. 1984, found her moving to California where she resided for seven years. She then lived on the East Coast until she returned to Aberdeen in 1998.

Charlene was married to Warren Neil Jewell on March 6, 2001, in Reno, Nev., and her mother was in attendance at the ceremony.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Warren Neil Jewell of the family home in Hoquiam; her son, Sean Michael Ryan of Seattle; her daughter, Pam Percival and her husband, Bill of Las Vegas, Nev.; her brothers, Warren Quirin of Aberdeen, Ken Quirin of Ephrata, Alvin Nelson of Aberdeen and Curtis Nelson of Grants Pass, Ore.; her granddaughters, Sierra Percival and Shasta Percival; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including Marlene and Dave McDougall. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Nelson.

There will be no formal funeral service. Private inurnment services will be held at a later date at the Hoquiam Sunset Memorial Park.
