Captain John W. Paul, USN-RET, 81, of Palm Bay, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 21, 2007. John, known as "Bill" to his family and friends, was born in Kane, PA on February 9, 1926 to parents Helen and John LeRoy Paul.

Captain Paul graduated from The Catholic University of America with an A.B. degree in Economics in 1950, and earned his Masters of Science degree in Logistics Management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology in 1969.

Captain Paul served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal and was stationed in Saigon, Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was a career Supply Corp Officer who was stationed in Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., Norfolk, VA, Dayton, OH and Philadelphia, PA.

Captain Paul was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V", the Vietnam service medal (with 4 stars) and the Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device), among several other prestigious medals and honors during his military career.

After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he brought his vast knowledge to Jersey Central Power & Light Company, where he was employed as a logistics manager. Captain Paul retired to Palm Bay, FL in 1990. He was a member of Port Malabar Country Club and St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member of the choir.

He enjoyed his time restoring classic Volvos and playing golf. He was an avid reader and distinguished scholar who enjoyed listening to classical music as well as playing his violin and guitar.

He is survived by daughters Elizabeth and Barbara Anne; former wives, Marilynn and Mary; five nieces and four nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles, and a sister, Susanne.

A memorial service will be held at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, at 1 p.m., October 6, 2007. Captain Paul will receive full Military Honors by an honor guard detail.

Captain Paul will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
