Annie Lue "Ann" Cook passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on September 18th, 2015 at the age of 85. She was born on December 12th, 1929 in Elkhart, Texas to Ogradie Mosley McElroy and Joe Bailey McElroy.  She was the youngest of three children and accepted Christ into her life at an early age. After graduating as salutatorian from Henry High School, she set her sights on having a family and a career.

Soon after high school, she married Lee Norris Cook, the love of her life. They began to start a family and moved to Dallas in 1956.  The couple welcomed a total of seven children into their home and Ann set about teaching them how to take care of each other and get along. She attended many colleges over the years, but ultimately graduated from El Centro College after working her way from licensed vocational nurse to registered nurse.

Her children remember her as a hardworking and driven mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals, as she did. She worked many double shifts and weekends to make sure that her children had everything they needed.

Ann was an accomplished registered nurse and her passion for the field led her to teaching at local vocational schools. She herself never stopped learning, either. Over the years, she took classes at the University of Texas at Arlington and even traveled to New York City for classes to advance her career.

She was a generous and dedicated woman who loved her family and who was passionate about her church. She was a proud and active member of Greater Zion Baptist Church until her health would not allow her to attend.  She valiantly wore many hats as a member and served in the following capacities: Hospitality Leader, Willing Worker Leader, Nurses Guild Leader, Financial Room Leader, and Mission Secretary. She was a perennial Queen of the Church.

Ann is survived by her husband, Lee Norris Cook; sons Amen Kafele , Glenn Cook , Dale Cook ; daughters, Debra Lowe and Audrey Younger ; son, Cecil Cook ; daughter, Patricia Cook; brother, Clayton (Big Joe) Mosley; sixteen grandchildren and an ever growing number of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sammie Lee Mosley.
