Larry R. Gowdy went to be with his Lord on August 11th, 2018. Larry was the son of Musa and Ralph Gowdy.

Larry had an adventurous life, beginning with joining the United States Navy at the age of 17. As a machinist, he sailed the seven seas, ensuring the ship stayed afloat. Collecting many stories and tales along the way.

He married Marlene Mitchell, together they had two sons, Micheal Joe Gowdy (deceased), and Jeffrey Joe Gowdy (deceased).

Larry and Marlene divorced, but remained friends until her death in 2000.

After retiring from the Navy, he lived in various places across the United States, including, California, Texas, Utah, Las Vegas Nevada, Jacksonville Florida and Ely Nevada.

Larry loved to tinker with vehicles, and sharing his stories of people, places and things with friends and family. And many a times giving his wisdom along the way. Larry loved to enjoy life and fun. He was a tall man, who dressed well, in country western wear. And have a cold beer every now and then. And didn't know a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Joe and Jeffrey Joe Gowdy.

Larry requested that he be remembered with a toast and laughter, and the good times shared by and with him.

I knew Larry Gowdy, I was married to his oldest son Mike Gowdy, many years ago.

Bless you eternally Larry.
