Tribute

We are sad to announce the passing of Barry Layne Butler, age 58, of Caldwell Idaho. Barry passed away in his home on September 17th, 2023, after a long battle with heart issues. Barry was born on May 25th, 1965, to Doris and Lou Butler in Idaho Falls, Idaho. After Barry graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1983, he attended Snow College where he played football, and then served a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Alaska Anchorage Mission. After his mission he attended Ricks College and completed an associate's degree in Farm Crop Management. It was at this time he met and married his sweetheart, Julie Stephens. They were married in the Salt Lake temple on July 18, 1987. Barry and Julie went on to have 5 children and raised them in Hurricane, Utah.

Barry was a contractor and excavator by trade and could build and fix anything. He had a passion for football and spent many years coaching. He loved working with the youth and spent many years serving in the young men's and scouting programs. He dearly loved his 11 grandchildren. Barry was always so kind and tender hearted. He was fun, and witty and the best dad and husband we could have ever asked for. He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. He had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all the days of his life.

He is preceded in death by his baby girl, Brooke.
