Funeral services for Anna Mary Alston, 88, of Killeen, was Saturday at First Baptist Church of Killeen. The Rev. Randy Wallace will officiate. Burial will follow in the Killeen City Cemetery.

Alston passed away May 14, 2008, in her home. She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Bedias to Howard and Lola Rigby. She was a graduate of Mary Hardin Baylor and obtained her master's degree at Baylor University. She taught in the Killeen Independent School District for 40 years. She had been married to Homer Alston for 68 years.

Alston was loved by so many people, as evidenced by the number of friends that continued to visit her during her lengthy illness. On her good days, she could still make her friends and nurses laugh with her remarks. She shared a sense of humor and wisdom with all.

Alston was preceded in death by her son, Ronny Alvin Alston on April 28, 1978.

Survivors include her husband, Homer Alston of Killeen; her daughter, Jo Ann Richerson of Sugar Land; five grandchildren, David Alston, Trey Robnett, Blake Alston-Webb, Ashley Robnett and Roni Ray; her great-grandson, Micah Ray, and her devoted pets, Spike and Lady.

The family will have a time of visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home, which is in charge of services.
