Joseph "Joe" Jenecaro, age 91, died in Las Vegas, NV. Monday, July 14, 2003. Born February 22, 1912 in Wall, Pa., Joe resided in Bridgeport over 45 years, where he was employed by the Remington Products Company. Joe was very active in Slow Pitch Softball, coaching both men's and women's teams to championship-level play in local and national tournaments. Shortly after his retirement to Las Vegas, Joe established the Las Vegas Senior Softball tournament, a national event which was subsequently re-named the Joe Jenecaro Invitational. His achievements in Senior Softball resulted in his induction into the Las Vegas Softball Hall of Fame, and honors from Kauai, Hawaii. Mr. Jenecaro was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Maruco of Henderson, NV; and son, Joseph Jenecaro of Middletown, Conn.; granddaughter, Allison; and grandson, Joey, also of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews in the Bridgeport area. Services were held in Las Vegas. A local Mass and Memorial Service will be held in September, date to be announced, at St. Margaret's Shrine.
