MONMOUTH — David H. Cowden, 76, of 327 S. 6th Monmouth, died unexpectedly about 4:30 this morning in his home. He had been in failing health for several months. Funeral services will be held at 2 Monday afternoon In the Turn-bull Funeral Home, Monmouth. The Rev. H. A. Cochran, pastor of the Monmouth First Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tomorrow night.


Mr. Cowden was born July 16, 1879, at Biggsville, a son of George and Elizabeth Graham Cowden. He attended schools in Biggsville and later farmed in Henderson County for eight years.


He married Mary Jones, March 2, 1910, in Henderson County, and since then they had resided in Monmouth where Mr. Cowden was a contractor and painter. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.


Surviving are tne widow; four sisters, Mrs. George Caldwell and the Misses Margaret, and Elizabeth Cowden, all of Monmouth, and Mrs. Mable Riegel of Hanover, N. and three brothers, George of Earl of Los Angeles, and Ralph of Tucson, Ariz.
