Sergeant Daniel W. Brady passed away today at St. Luke's West in Chesterfield, Missouri, after a short illness. He was only 61 years of age.

Danny was predeceased by his father, Mr. Charles R., and Mrs. Margaret A. (nee O'Donnell) Brady.

Danny is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Brady, and their two children, Brian and Danielle Brady.

Dearest brother to M. Catherine Clayton, R. Michael Brady, Edward Brady, Patricia Bauer, Colleen Bynum, and Tracy M. Brady.

Danny and his eldest brother, Robert M. Brady, both became police officers and thus became another generation of police officers in the family.

Sergeant Daniel W. Brady, DSN 289, started his career as a police cadet in 1980. Danny subsequently received his commission while he was only 20 years old and started the academy. Danny had turned 21 years of age by the time he graduated from the academy, and through the years he was promoted to the command rank of sergeant. A few years later, he was assigned to the department's detective bureau. Danny was the most highly decorated police officer in the history of the University City Police Department. Danny spent 32 years on the University City Police Department.

He, like his brother Robert Michael Brady, DSN 161, retired Chief of Police, Northwoods, Missouri Police Department, both served with distinction. They followed their maternal grandfather, Sergeant Patrick J. O'Donnell, DSN 1675, S.L.M.P.D., retired and deceased, into the field of law enforcement.

Of note, his sister, Tracy Brady, D.M. 17228, is an active member of the Emergency Medical Division of the Saint Louis Fire Department. She, too, serves with distinction.
