Mrs. Tennie L. Jones, 89, of Columbia died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Visitation with the family will be from noon-1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Calvary Missionary with services to follow at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Kenny L. Anderson Sr. serving as eulogist.

The body will lie in state from 1-7 p.m. Sunday at V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memorial Garden.

V.K. Ryan & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A native of Maury County she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Annie Bell Pillow Duke. She received her education in the Maury County school system and was a beautician for 27 years.


She was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Mothers' Board, a member of the senior choir and Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Grace Duke, Myrena Clark, Birdie Lee Smith, Willie B. Braden and Olivia Thomas and one brother, Arthur D. Duke.

Survivors include her devoted niece, Carrie (Revis) Harris of Columbia; devoted grand niece, Mildred Thomas of Columbia; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and devoted goddaughter, Karen (Darran) Christian of Atlanta, Ga.
