Obituary.

Chester P. Bratton departed from this earth July 22, 1922. He was born in Brown county, Ohio, in 1850, being at the time of his death 72 years old. He came to Illinois a small baby accompanied by his parents, Robert Bratton and Mrs. Cynthia Bratton. The deceased leaves to mourn his death, one sister, Mrs. Luther Miller, of Mt. Sterling; two brother[s], Frank Bratton of near Hersman and Willie D. Bratton, of Seattle, Wash. He was known among those who always knew him as a good boy, honest in his dealings with every one, a good worker. He will be missed by those who love him dearly. He accepted Christ a number of years ago. His last words were for Jesus.

The Lord has carried our dear brother to him, gone but not forgotten, gone to meet his dear mother and father and two sisters, who have passed from this world quite a few years ago. He was laid away by his father at Akers Chapel in Poke [sic] county, near Hulls. Those who attended his funeral from Brown county were his brother, Frank, and two sons, Ray and [unreadable] from Hersman and his sister's son, Albie Dale, from near Chambersburg. His sister could not attend the funeral as she was taken very sick that morning.

A Sister.
