William Carl 1942 - 2021
William "Bill" Sherman Carl 78, of Richmond, went to meet his Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Detroit, July 10, 1942, the son of the late Lillian Victor Carl and Katherine Mae Courson.
He met Bobbie (Barbara) McCabe when he was 19, and knew that he had met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with.
William served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a plant supervisor for Darling International. "Wild Bill" loved to bowl, golf, and play cards. In fact, he bowled a 300 game on January 28th, 2000 - 21 years ago to the day of his passing. In retirement, he enjoyed being a course ranger at Michigan Meadows Golf Course where he could talk to players and friends. Depending on the season, Bill lived at the bowling alley or the golf course. Any opportunity to be with his family and friends was considered time best spent. He was a constant joker, loved to sing, and developed a personal connection with everyone he met. Bill was kind, generous, fun, and sincere.
Surviving in addition to Bobbie, his wife of 57 years, are his children, Douglas (Mary) Carl, James Carl, Kathleen (Rob) Sheets; two granddaughters Ashley Navalta and Alexis Delekta; two siblings, Patricia Mills and Gean Bray, as well as many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbie, a son Don, 10 brothers and sisters, and his mother and father.
The family honored the memory of William with a private visitation and memorial service (due to Covid-19 restrictions) on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Arrangements were provided by Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. A celebration of the life Bill lived will be held at a later date at one of Bill's favorite places, Strikers Entertainment in Richmond.
Memorials can be made to James Coleman VFW Post 6802, 34339 32 Mile Rd, Richmond, MI 48062, or "Wishes of the Family".
