Douglas R. Benner 67, Bristol, died Friday of a heart attack while driving his truck on the South Bristol Road. he was born in Bristol, Feb. 22, 1910, son of Ozro and Jennie Robinson Benner. he attended local schools. Mr. Benner was in the construction business for many year. He had also worked for the state of Maine and served the town of Bristol for many years as selectman. he was a past master of Bristol Lodge AF & AM and a past patron of Pemaquid Chapter O.E.S. Survivors include his wife, Alice Plummer Benner, his mother of Bristol, two sons, Norman of Newcastle and Chester of round Pond, a daughter, Mrs. Judith Woodman of Bristol, two brothers, Earl & Warren, both of Bristol, four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Sparrow, Mrs. Gladys Foster, Mrs. Josephine Pendleton and Mrs. Eleanor Carter, all of Bristol; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Strong Funeral Home, Damariscotta, the Rev. William Dalke officiating. Interment in the Bristol Mills Cemetery.
