"WATERVLIET Frances M. (Fitzgerald) Barber, 94, died peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Eddy Heritage House in Troy. Born in Whitehall on September 14, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Edwards Fitzgerald. Mrs. Barber lived in Whitehall until the age of 17 when she moved to Keesville and met her late husband. They moved to Watervliet in 1945 where she was a homemaker raising her family. She was employed at the former Leonard Hospital in Troy as a unit secretary for 15 years before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and enjoyed bingo, playing cards and baking pies. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Barber; devoted mother of Thomas C. (Dottie) Barber of Vero Beach, Fla., Carol (late Vincent) LaBoissiere, Rosemary (late Michael) Kelly and Janice Turcic all of Watervliet. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great- grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Mikelyn Kelly; five siblings and one sister-in- law. The funeral service will be Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Parker Bros.
