Katherine May (Katie) Freeman Sinclair (November 14, 1915 - May 27, 2016)


Katie Freeman Sinclair, 100, passed on Friday, May 27, 2016.

Katie was born on Sunday, November 14, 1915, to Jess Earl Freeman and Alice Potts Freeman.

Katie worked for North American Aviation in Dallas, Texas, during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.

Her husband L.M. Sinclair entered military service on January 13, 1941 and was discharged on June 28, 1945. SSGT Sinclair fought with the U.S. Army, 36th Division. In April 1943, he was transferred to North Africa; he participated in the campaigns of Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe, receiving wounds on October 16, 1944. He was awarded the EAME Campaign Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Purple Heart.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Lois Maxwell (L.M. or Buddy) Sinclair (1915-1997); her parents Jess Earl Freeman (1884-1964) and Alice Potts Freeman (1891-1982); and four siblings -- two infant children in 1910 and 1919; her sister Christine Freeman Garrett (1925-2009); and her brother J.E. Freeman, Jr. (1930-2015).

Interment: Sparkman Hillcrest Mausoleum, in Dallas, Texas on Friday, May 27, 2016. At her request, there will be no funeral services.

(Her husband L.M. Sinclair is interred at Greenview Cemetery in Greenview, Hopkins County, Texas.)
