Marie Josephine (Sunseri) Lohrke was born on December 1, 1926, in Los Angeles. Marie peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 11, 2022 in Fremont at the age of 95. A San Jose resident for 50 years, Marie grew up in Los Angeles and attended Compton Junior College. She later worked as a telephone operator. Marie met the love of her life, Jack, when he and Maries brother Nick were teammates on the semi-pro Pasadena Dons baseball team. Jack served in Europe during World War II and a few years later Marie and Jack were married on December 10, 1948. The couple would have six children over the years as Marie worked hard as a wonderful homemaker, Mom, Grandma, and friend. Marie loved to exercise along with Jack LaLanne on television, watch Jeopardy, and cook fabulous meals. Marie and Jack would be married for over 60 years until Jacks passing in 2009. During Jacks professional baseball years, he and Marie spent time living in New York, Caracas, Philadelphia, Downey, Sacramento, and San Jose. Marie was a devout Catholic, an amazing hostess, and a classy dresser. She was a loyal and talented member of the St. Victor Catholic Church choir in San Jose for over 30 years. Her favorite hobbies included singing, knitting, gardening, and solving crossword puzzles. Marie loved attending crab feeds and always enjoyed meals at Red Lobster. Marie is survived by her sons Kurt and John, daughters Karen, Kathryn, Kim and Kristina, sons-in-law Ned, Bill, and James, and daughter-in-law Rhonda; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel, 471 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA on Monday, August 22nd at 4 pm. A rosary will follow. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Victor Church, 3150 Sierra Road in San Jose on Tuesday, August 23rd at 11 am. Interment will be private.
