Charles "Lance" "Cholly" Alanson Buckman passed away on March 28, 2021, at home in New Bern with his wife by his side. He was born in Manhattan Hospital in New York City, New York on October 12, 1933, the son of Charles Francis and Rose Garrison Buckman.

At the end of high school, he enlisted in the United States Airforce (known then as the U.S. Army Airforce) and proudly served four years during the Korean War. After his service, he began a long successful career in elevators. He started his career as an apprentice with Westinghouse Elevator Company. Throughout the years he installed and worked on many elevators in the New York City area. As his mechanical knowledge of elevators grew, his career advanced and he began his own elevator business, Garcon. As he and his businesses grew, he became a nationally known consultant for elevators, escalators and vertical machinery. He was called upon by many attorneys and accident victims to handle their cases, which he did with much success. During this period he attended Fairleigh Dickinson and Bloomfield Universities.

He and his family moved to New Bern, North Carolina in 1996, a place which he totally loved. He became a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He served a term on the Board of Trustees and also sang in the choir. He has missed attending church for the last year and a half due to the coronavirus and health issues.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Guy Kevin Buckman (Angie); daughters, Alyson Rowena Cinelli (Albert) and Brenda Rose Buckman; step-daughters, Susan Mary Daub-Longo and Ellen Marie Platt; grandson, Jason Francis (Mallery) and their children: Brooke Deborah, Jason William "the Conqueror", and Abigail Eleanore; granddaughter, Deanna Rowena Cozzone, grandson, Charles Brett Jr. and his children: Trefor and Dorian; granddaughter, Samantha Angela Cinelli; grandson, Benjamin Albert Cinelli; granddaughter, Zoe Elizabeth Longo; grandson, Charles Platt; granddaughter, Brooke Madruga; sister, Holly Gail Greenhalgh and her children: Ward, Holly Louise, and Jennifer, and their children, Hannah, Leia, Christina, Gunner, and Colby; and a sister in law, Marie Palsir.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles Brett Buckman Sr.; a daughter, Deborah Brooke Buckman; and a sister, Lynn Raskins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastors Susan Greenwood and Rick Moser officiating. A Celebration of Charles' life will be held in late Spring.
