Kathy was born Kathleen Harriet Place on August 20, 1941, in Snohomish, WA (yes, there was a hospital in Snohomish back then), to parents Fred James Place and Marie Wilhelmina Anna Place (Vanderham). She was the 4th of 5 children. She attended Snohomish schools and graduated from SHS in June, 1959. She immediately began working in a law office in Snohomish for Frank B. Carr. She worked full time for several years and then part time for about 1 1/2 years. She did reception, bookkeeping, and secretarial work. She was married June 4, 1966 to Henry Clyde Crapson.

Her mother was called on for many years by Jehovah's

Witnesses while Kathy was growing up; first by Lincoln Temple, then by Charles and Ruth Datisman. A home Bible study was started in 1957 when Kathy was in high school, with Kathy, her younger sister Margaret, and their mother. Margaret and Kathy attended the large international Convention in New York in the summer of 1958 and both were baptized on December 13, 1958. Their mom was baptized some years later.

Her father, Fred Place, passed away on September 13, 1959 at the age of 60 from cancer.

Henry and Kathy raised four beautiful and wonderful children: Deborah, Rebekah, Jared and Sharon. She was able to be a stay-at home mom most of the years the children were growing up. She did work at house cleaning jobs for about five years when the kids were teenagers. Kathy and Henry felt privileged to be proud grandparents of Dominic and Chehalis Reis, Michaela and Finn Baker, Logan and Alexa Crapson. Kathy died in her sleep on December 16, 2023.
