Ruth (Serens) Crisp Becker, 91, of East Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. She was born in East Syracuse and lived there her entire life. She was a communicant of St. Matthews Church. Ruth graduated from East Syracuse High School in 1935, she was on the championship women's basketball team. She was a member of the East Syracuse Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years; American Legion Post #359; VFW Simon Parisi Post; Troop Cavalry Club; and St. Matthew's 2nd Time Around Store. She retired from Con Rail Railroad in 1982 after 17 years. She also worked at Temple's Dairy, General Electric, and the post office. She was predeceased by her parents, Philip and Emily Serens; her husband, Nelson Becker in 2006; daughter, Marlene Darling in 2000; four sisters; and three brothers. Survivors: daughters, Karen Condolora, of Phoenix, AZ, Linda Newhart, of East Syracuse, Patricia (Paul) Dugal, of Cazenovia; stepdaughters, Patricia Koncur, of Birmingham, MI, Karen (Ron) Salbato, of Ione, CA, Peg (Jim) Egan, of Anchorage, AK; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services: Saturday, 8:30 a.m. at Forani & Cline Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Matthew's Church. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Minoa, NY. Calling Hours: 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home, 206 Kinne St., East Syracuse. Contributions: St. Matthew's Food Pantry; American Cancer Society; or St. Joseph's Dialysis.
