He was born in Bostwick and had lived most of his life in Bostwick before moving to Green Cove Springs 15 years ago. He was a member of Decoy Baptist Church. He cut cross ties for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad in his earlier days, later he was a trapper, gator hunter and a commercial fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Midlred McRae Wilkinson of Green Cove Springs; two daughters, Florrie Hoeltzel of Palatka and Eloise Pitmon of Bostwick; son, Dennis Wilkinson of Bostwick; stepdaughter, Mildred "Boots" Williams of Green Cove Springs; three step-sons, Fred McRae, John McRae and Mack McRae, all of Green Cove Springs; two half sisters, Pitie Driggers and Venie Wilkinson, both of Bostwick; two half brothers, the Rev. Donald Willis and Ronie Willis., both of Bostwick; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bostwick Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Glisson and Jesse Wooten officiating. Burial will be in Bostwick Cemetery.
