James William Banks, son of John and Rebecca Banks, was born June 1, 1862, and died July 15, 1944, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 14 days.

He was united in marriage Nov. 23, 1887, to Sarah Ellen Bishop who preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 1943.

To this union were born three children, Guy and Iva of Monroe, Ia., and John who died a number of years ago.

Mr. Banks and his wife were members of the Baptist church in Spring Hill, Ia., and remained faithful and loyal to Christ until they were called into the other life. There has been no Baptist church in Spring Hill for a number of years.

Mr. Banks leaves to mourn his passing besides his son and daughter, six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother John of Eagleville, Mo.; and a large number of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Banks was a grand old man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The funeral was held in the Gallaway Funeral Home at Norwalk, conducted by the Rev. Dr. A.N. Simpson. Interment was in the Webb cemetery.

Word was received in the city Monday that Wm. Banks, former resident of Greenbush, had committed suicide by shooting himself at the home of his daughter in Monroe. Mr. Banks was 82 years of age.
