She was born on Sept. 18, 1917 at Wiseman, AR, to George Washington and Minnie Belle (Butler) Stuart. She was raised and schooled in Wiseman, AR, and later married her childhood friend, Wayman Leslie Langston there on March 2, 1935. They moved to Wenatchee in 1936. During the late 1940s through the 1950s Bethel and her husband, "Chick," owned and operated Mission Auto Sales as well as other car lots on Wenatchee Avenue. In 1960, they moved to Seattle where they remained until returning to Wenatchee in 1974. On Oct. 11, 2000, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayman L. "Chick" Langston.
During their retirement, they had travelled extensively throughout the Southern United States. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and crocheting and spending time with her family.
Bethel was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children and their spouses, Linda B. and Mike Addleman, Cashmere, Gary W. and Deanne Langston, East Wenatchee; and Donald D. and Lorraine Langston, Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Bessie Brooks, Redland, CA; ten grandchildren, Justin and Aaron Addleman, Cashmere, Tyson and Trenton Langston, East Wenatchee, William Williford and Kim Bachelor, both of Oak Harbor, Tracy Davis, Bakersfield, CA, Donna Hisey, Wenatchee, Laurie Morgan, East Wenatchee and Sandy Fritchley, Las Vegas, NV; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayman "Chick" Langston; one daughter, Barbara Sue Langston in 1994; two brothers, Hebert and Homer Stuart; and three sisters, Daisy Stuart, Dorothy Rhea and Edith Moser.
Commemoration services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Telford's Chapel of the Valley with the Reverend Steve Brewer officiating. Concluding services and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
