Henry was born in Ohio. He was the sixth child of seven of Algernon Sidney Stone and Eve Ann Sly. He moved to Oregon and in 1870 married Abigail Tharp in Benton County, Oregon. They had one child, Otto, who died in a shooting accident in 1890. After Henry retired from farming, he and Abigail moved to Corvallis. In 1910 the couple had four cousins and a nephew living with them. Henry died at age 82 in Benton County.
