RITES HELD FOR CLAUDE E. ADAMS

Claude Ernest Adams, son of a Baptist minister, the Rev. J. Edward Adams and Katherine Adams, was born February 21, 1881, at Pine Forest district near Goldendale. He spent his boyhood and received his schooling in the vicinity of Pine Forest and Spring Creek. About 1922 he came to Klickitat to work for Holmes, later the J. Neils Lumber company, until his retirement.

At Blockhouse he met and married Vinnie Maude Winterstein, October 19, 1920. To this union were born two sons, Ray Alfred of Klickitat, Guy Lawrence, who was killed in a plane crash in September 1955, and a daughter, Willma Maude of Klickitat.

After an illness of one week, he passed away on March 16, 1961, in Goldendale in Klickitat Valley hospital at the age of 80 years and 21 days.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Vinnie Maude Adams, one son, Ray Alfred, and his daughter, Mrs. James F. Gallagher, all of Klickitat; one brother, Chris Adams of Spring Creek.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Arthur W. Bleiler of Newport, Ore., George Adams of Jackson, Calif., and Mrs. Bud Osborne of Glendora, Calif.; seven great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Phillips Funeral Home in Goldendale on Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Theodore Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Raymond Shurtz, John Roberts, Harry Nelson, Martin Rogholt, George Scofield and Ray England.
