MRS. S. T. LOWE
Mary Jane Campbell daughter of Joseph and Nancy Campbell was born in Hancock, county, Indiana, on August 4, 1853, and passed from this life at her home in Reece, Kansas, February 25, 1940, at the age of 86 years 6 month and 21 days.
She was united in marriage to Silas T. Lowe in Shelby county, Indiana, March 19, 1873. To this union were born nine children, one daughter and two sons dying in infancy. Her husband and these six daughters are left to mourn her passing: Addie Seymour, El-Dorado; Ina Dimick, Eureka; Etta Riggs, Forgan, Olka.; Alma Larcom of the home; Grace Hammer, Chivington, Colo.; Bessie Jones, Reece.
She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren, two brothers in Rushville, Indiana; and many other loved ones and friends.
In 1882 she with her husband and family moved to Moran, Kansas. She was converted at about 36 years of age and united with the La Grande Methodist Protestant church near Moran. In March 1894 they moved to Reece where they have since made their home the greater part of the time.
For about 33 years she has been a member of the Christian church at Reece, a faithful attendant, an untiring and unassuming worker for the cause she loved so well.
She lived a beautiful life, one of self sacrificing service to her loved ones and friends, always desirous of doing for others, so patient and ever thoughtful of others even in her hours of suffering.
Funeral service was held from the Reece Christian Church Thursday afternoon, February 29, conducted by Rev. L. T. Faulders of El Dorado. Interment was in the Reece cemetery.
