Arthur Ellis Kenyon was the son of Alonzo Kenyon and Helen Emilia (Utter) Kenyon, daughter of Charles Utter and Eunice E. Jones.

He was born in LaCross, Wisconsin. Per his obituary, he moved with his family to Boulder Creek, California at the age of 3, although the 1900 census shows him living with his family at 1232 Rose Street, LaCross, Wisconsin on 4 June 1900. Presumably, he moved to Boulder Creek, California sometime shortly after that date.

A 1910 census shows him living with his family in Santa Cruz, California at 602 Ocean Street. A second 1910 census shows him living with his mother, Helen, on Central Street, in Boulder Creek, California.

On 5 June 1917, Arthur registered for the World War I draft registration in Oakland, California. He was 21 years old, residing at 1210 13th Avenue, Oakland, California. He was single, an unemployed stenographer, at the time. He was described as short, medium build, with blue eyes, blond hair, and having a left foot disability.

Arthur married his first wife, Beatrice Almadoba (newspaper notice gives Alameda), on 3 Sep 1919, Berkeley, Alameda County, California, by R.C. Brooks, Minister. Beatrice was born in 1900, in Puerto Rico, daughter of Raymond Almodaba, a widow, who was living in Hilo, Hawaii, working on a sugar plantation in 1910. Her mother's maiden name was Sanchez.

Beatrice and her family came to San Francisco, on 2 July 1910, passengers on the Manchuria, out of Honolulu, Hawaii. The family was living at 929 Jackson Street, San Jose, California, where Beatrice and her sister, Anita were glove makers.

In 1920, Arthur and Beatrice were boarders in the home of William Hasse and his wife on Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, California, where he was a bookkeeper in a telephone office. Arthur and Beatrice had two daughters, Betty Lucille Kenyon, born 1920 and Jane Anita Kenyon, born 1922. Both daughters were born in California. Arthur and Beatrice divorced around 1925.

On 23 March 1927 Arthur and Ruth Cumings married in Martin County, Florida, by L.E. Wright, Minster of Gospel, First Methodist Church, Stuart, Florida. Mother of the bride, Mrs. Cumings was a witness.

By 1930, Arthur and Ruth were living in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, where he was a sign painter. They had two children, Mary Lou who was born in Arkansas and Robert Lewis Kenyon who was born in Mississippi.

In 1930, Arthur's two daughters from his first marriage were wards, placed in the Home of Benevolence in San Jose, California.

It appears from a subsequent marriage license, Arthur and Ruth divorced in 1938.

In 1942, Arthur registered for the World War II draft in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas where he lived. He worked for Sabine Transportation Co., Inc. He listed Ruth Kenyon, Box 1027, Muncie, Indiana, as the person who would always know his address. He was described as 5'4", 140 pounds, blue eyes, blond hair, with a ruddy complexion.

Art and Ruth remarried in 1945. A marriage license dated 15 March 1945, Delaware County, Indiana, shows Arthur Ellis Kenyon, whose residence was then listed at 824 Mission St. Santa Cruz, California to Ruth Kenyon who was residing in Muncie, Indiana.

The marriage certificate dated 18 March 1945, Muncie, Indiana shows both bride and groom residing in Muncie, Indiana. Ruth's parents were given as L. H. Cumings and Mirtha Sutton. Their two children, Mary Lou Kenyon and Robert L. Kenyon were witnesses. They were married by Rev. William J. Sayers.

Arthur and Ruth later settled in Santa Cruz, California.

On the 1950 Federal Census Arthur and Ruth were living at 319 Younglove Avenue, Santa Cruz. He was a painter while she worked in a clothing factory. Living with them are their children Mary and Robert L. Also living with them was his brother, Claude C. Kenyon, a building contractor.
