Frieda Steinfeld, 86, died May 23, 2008 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born in Baltimore and lived in Vero Beach for 56 years, coming from Patterson, NJ.

Along with her husband, she had owned Frieda's Alligator and Fruit Center in Winter Beach. She later worked for J Byrons Department Store, which became Uptons Department Store in Vero Beach.

Survivors include daughters, Lottie Boos of Palm Bay and Bonnie Muth of West Palm Beach; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Sidney Steinfeld; and brother, Nathan Askin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601-7633.

SERVICES: A private graveside service will be at 1 p.m. May 26 at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
