The graveside service for Billy Joe Lovell, 58, of Athens, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Sardis Springs Baptist Cemetery with Bro. Tim Keenum and Bro. Calvin Inman officiating, and McConnell Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Lovell died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at his home. He was born December 11, 1947, in Limestone County to Marvin Lovell and Ruby Jackson Lovell.
He was employed by Athens City Schools for 14 years and previously employed by Wah Chang of Madison, Alabama. He had a special caring for physically and mentally challenged children. He was a loving husband, father and Paw-Paw.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lovell; a son, Tony J. Lovell of Athens; a daughter, Tracey Cox and husband Jeff of Athens; four grandchildren, Keri and Morgan Cox and Jon and Krysti Lovell; three brothers, Thomas Lovell of Elkmont, Douglas Lovell of Prospect, TN, and Gerald Lovell of Harvest; two sisters, Shirley Miller of Athens and Carol Adams of Harvest; one uncle, Joe Jackson of Somerville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
