Vernon Baldwin, 67, of Xenia, OH, passed away Sept. 25, 2004. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 30 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home. A graveside committal service was held Oct. 1 at Woody Cemetery. Bro. Hank Jones officiated. Mr. Baldwin was born Dec. 15, 1936 in Crossville, the son of Luther Roy and Mary Jane Woody Baldwin.
Survivors include his son, Patrick Eugene Baldwin; his loving companion of 30 years, Thelma Wheeler of Xenia; stepdaughters, Lisa Hill of Harriman, Debbie Geimer of Miamisburg, OH, Penny Bowles of Kettering, OH and Ronda Wheeler of Xenia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Velma and Harold Christopher and Roy and Lois Woody, all of Crossville; brother-in-law, Ernest Phipps of Nashville; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ford of Sparta; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two special friends, Robert Keith Phillips of Beavercreek, OH, whom he worked for over 20 years as a construction worker for RK Phillips Construction; and his neighbor for over 30 years, Carl Brock of Xenia, OH. He made friends everywhere he went and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would also like to give special thanks to Hospice of Dayton who was so kind and caring throughout his illness. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Phipps; and brothers, Kermit and Ridley Baldwin.
