CLARENCE SCHMIDT

Clarence D. Schmidt, 79, died at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at his home on Lowell Rt.2. Death followed a long illness.

He was born in Salem Twp., June 5, 1887, a son of the late George and Mary Ward Schmidt. On Aug. 12, 1908, he married Alma Henniger, who died in October of 1965.

Three daughters and three sons survive: Mrs. Verna Long of Canal Winchester, Mrs. Eleanor Sergant of Westerville, Mrs. Vergil Wilkings of Lowell, George Schmidt of Columbus, Ray Schmidt of Lowell Rt.2 and Clarence D. Schmidt Jr. of the family home.There are nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, John Schmidt of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Ralph Krout officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery at Lowell.

Friends may call at Peoples Funeral Home in Lowell tomorrow afternoon and evening.
