She spent her childhood years on a farm in Sutton, where a piece of her heart remains until this day. Her father called her his wild Indian, because of her love for nature, beauty and animals. Her religious belief as a devoted Roman Catholic gives her family the faith and belief that she now dwells in the house of our Lord. Doris, in addition to being a loving mother, grand- mother and great grandmother had an abundance of love to give to her family.
During World War II, Doris was known as "Smokey" with her long dark hair, sang at the Totem Pole Ballroom in Massachusetts at the age of 15 years old for the young men and women in the armed forces. She also did her part by working for the government during the war.
She and her husband, Edward Joseph Gagne, celebrated 59 loving years in marriage prior to Edward's death in March of 2005; she was also preceded in death by her parents Peter T. LaRocque and Lodina Lavigne, her sister Irene Hook, brothers Marcel Paul LaRocque and Edgar LaRocque.
She is survived by her five children, daughter Margaret Lujan and husband Anthony, daughter Jeanne A. Ohlson and husband Thomas, son Peter E. Gagne and wife Brenda and family, son Paul A. Gagne and wife Michele and family, daughter Susanne E. Pellicano and husband Carl and family, she is also survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and one brother Armond LaRocque of California.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 25, 2008. It will be a private family memorial.
