Samuel Ashton, of Barron lake, died at 12:15 a.m. today in his home. Surviving are his widow, Pearl [2nd wife]; a son, Gregg Ashton, and a daughter, Mrs. John Romanski, both of Barron lake; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Henrietta Pitner, of Atlanta, Ga. Ashton was born in Williamsburg, Kan., Nov. 19, 1890, and came here from Kansas. He had lived most of his life in this vicinity. Friends may call at the Pifer funeral home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. G. A. Steeby, pastor of the First Evangelical United Brethren church. Burial will be in Silverbrook cemetery. The Niles Daily Star Niles, Michigan 8 June 1950.
