He was born Jan. 29, 1913 in Oxford, AR to Wiley J. and Etter Helm.
On May 15, 1933, he was married to Lucy Montgomery.
Cecil Helm was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather, a gentle spirit who loved God and Jesus with all his heart.
He was a member of The Church of Christ for 65 years and a retired elder of King's Orchard Church of Christ in Wenatchee.
Service to others was Cecil's primary goal. He lived for a life of service to Jesus first, others second and self last. When needs arose in the family, church or community, he wanted to help. Cecil and his tractor were ready to assist in the building of the current King's Orchard Church of Christ. In winter, he was often seen on his tractor pushing snow for others. For friends and family, Cecil and his tractor have traveled far. Restoring tractors and antique cars or trucks have been Cecil's hobby. As a member of the Wenatchee Valley Antique Car Club, he and his wife often were participants in local parades.
Cecil and his wife, Lucy, owned a general store until 1940 when he moved to the Wenatchee Valley. Since then, he has worked at Columbia River Orchards, Joe Earhart and Son and Northwest Wholesale, Inc. In addition, he has owned and worked at his own orchard.
Cecil loved to work, to accomplish worthwhile projects. He always wanted to be ready for any event. This kind, loving, gentle man will always be remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy of the home; daughter, Betty McKee of Wenatchee; three grandchildren, Sam McKee, Brewster, David McKee, Omak and Lisa Blair, Antioch, CA; seven great-grandchildren; Luke McKee, Lani McKee, Micah Blair, Rachel Blair, Sarah Blair, Katy McKee and Kari McKee.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Coretta, sister, Georgia Ballard and brothers, Ernest Helm, Horten Helm and Henry Helm.
Memorial services will be on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. Private graveside services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to King's Orchard Church of Christ or charity of your choice.
