Marilla Essa, daughter of John B. and Carrie Adamson, was born November 21, 1875, at Numa, Iowa, and died at the Boulder hospital on June 25, 1922, aged 46 years, 7 months and 4 days. She moved with her parents to Nuckolls county, Nebraska, in the fall of 1878. At the age of fourteen she united with the Church of Christ of which she remained a faithful member and worker, always ready to do her duty and help others. She moved her membership from the organization at Nora to Boulder. On the 21st day of November, 1897, she was united in marriage to E. L. Downing. To this union two sons were born: Draper Lloyd of Boulder, Colo.; and Milford Russell who passed from this life February 21, 1921. In March, 1919, she moved with her family from Nora, Nebr., to Boulder, Colo., where they lived at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and one son Draper Lloyd, a step daughter, Mrs. Eva Rippeteau of Clay Center; five sisters and three brothers: J.E. Adamson of Boulder, Colo.; Belle Wright of Maderia, Calif.; Stanley Adamson, Hamlet, Nebr.; Elton Adamson, Bushnell, Nebr.; Lillie Corman, Nelson; Adda Stowers, Boulder, Colo.; Della Scherzinger, Cowles; Blanche Houston, Bennett, Colo.
The body was brought to Nelson Sunday and memorial services were held at the Christian church at half past three o'clock, conducted by the Pastor, V.E. Shirley, after which the body was placed in the family mausoleum in the Nelson cemetery.
