Rev. Jeremiah P. Schindel, s/o Rev. John Peter and Susanna (McCullough) Shindel, was a Lutheran minister, married to Elizabeth (Masser) Schindel. They were the parents of 9 children, Mary M., Susan H., Sarah H., Martha M., Martin Luther, Jeremiah Peter, Jacob Daniel, Edward M. and Emma E. Schindel. Rev Schindel served as a chaplain in the 110th Regt., PA Volunteers, during the Civil War. He was a State Senator for Lehigh and Northampton Counties. from 1858-1860. He served a congregation for many years in South Whitehall Twp. Lehigh Co.
