MINERAL POINT
James C. Whitford, age 54, of Mineral Point, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2008. He was born Aug. 27, 1953, in Dodgeville, the son of Keith and Jeane (Hardy) Whitford. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1971. He married Sandy Cocking on July 5, 1975, at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point and were blessed with 33 years together. He worked for Federal Industries for 23 years. Jim's greatest loves were his family, camping with his group of wonderful friends, and sharing his beautiful garden with others. He was best known for his corny jokes around the camp fire. He is survived by his wife, Sandy Whitford of Mineral Point; three daughters, Becky (Zach) Murray of Sun Prairie, Jenny (Tony) Blicharz of Mazomanie, and Niki (Rex U'Ren) Whitford of Dodgeville; Buck (the Pug); three grandchildren, Aden, Riley, and Cody; a sister, Holly (David) Hittesdorf of Arena; nieces; nephews; relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rod; his mother and father-in-law; and brother-in-law. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the BETHEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH (intersection of Highway 39 and W). Pastor Mary Anne Conklin will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME, Mineral Point, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
